American Management Association is looking for a Staff Accountant to provide professional accounting support to all levels within AMA in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Collaborate with all members of Finance and Sourcing teams to provide information and analyses that support senior management in controlling the financial, planning, reporting and administrative functions of the organization.


  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations and schedules for numerous balance sheet accounts including: bank/investment accounts, accrued expenses, fixed assets, capital leases, and various liability accounts.
  • Prepare and distribute templates to business unit controllers during forecast cycle.       Consolidate and validate forecast data submissions. Review for adherence to established guidelines.
  • Monitor and track AMA’s foreign licensee activity. Prepare and distribute billings for quarterly royalties and product usage.       Review receivables and compliance to minimum payment schedules.
  • Provide support for the Strategic Sourcing function of the organization.
  • Provide support for the Author Royalties tasks.
  • Provide support for the Sales & Use tax function at month-end.
  • Support and provide backup for special projects and other Finance functions as requested by manager.



  • BA/BS degree in business, major in Accounting preferred
  • Must possess proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven performance in a team environment

  • Experience with spreadsheets and personal computers required
  • Some creativity required
  • Relies on pre-established guidelines to perform job functions
  • Ability to meet deadlines
